Trying to eat healthy food and changing our habits does not mean that we can never eat a delicious cake, especially if there is a birthday or special occasion. Eating a piece of cake will not ruin our efforts on being healthy.
I think the problem is when we do not realize that we’re doing it more often than we think, for example, you’re baking cakes once a week, plus the birthday cake from somebody at work, and the dessert at a restaurant that you cannot resist … in short, it is not easy, but possible. Also, the less sugar you eat, the less you “miss” it.
I have always loved making cakes, I have always been in charge of preparing birthday cakes for the family. The smell of the oven, when that cake is cooking, is sublime … ahhhh so yummy.
In spite of knowing that I can prepare a “normal” cake, the old times’ favorite, I take the opportunity to try recipes on family birthdays, because it is really the only time I am preparing cakes, so I use the excuse to try a recipe less loaded with sugar and processed flour. Besides, the family already expects that coming to my house means eating healthier things… so I have to keep my standards hahaha.
In January I had to make two cakes, one for my dad and one for my daughter, the first was a test following a recipe that I had found on nataliamoragues.com and it was very nice. For the second cake, I decided to make some changes to adjust it to my taste, and it was even more delicious.
Here I share the recipe with the changes I made.
